Pop Christianity Poops Out

We live in a world of Islamic scapegoats. I am no fan of Islam. I think it is a regressive and harsh philosophy, and I think it is not compatible with my own philosophy of Living Love. I think many agree with me. But I think that many of those who agree forget that none of the world wars were caused by Moslems. Or Hindus, Taoists, or Buddhists for that matter. The big wars of worldwide scope --- the Seven Years War, World War I and World War II --- were all Christians fighting Christians. I use that word “Christian” loosely. Those people were not following Christ. He never said that his followers would kill each other. He said that his followers would be identified by their love for each other. He said that his kingdom is not of this world, but that if it was, then his followers would fight. Those fighting “christians” demonstrate that they don’t believe Christ.

How can you be a Christian if you don’t believe him? Christianity typically teaches that you must believe “on him” or “in him”, but they don’t teach that you simply must “believe him.” In my opinion, pop Christianity is empty, hypocritical and futile.

I’ll give you another example of Christian confusion. The pop protestant teaching is that the saved go to heaven when they die, and the unsaved go to hell. The Catholics teach that many go to “purgatory” for awhile until they can upgrade their attitudes to qualify for heaven, or until they have sufficient punishment. But, blended in with the heaven and hell teaching is the notion of Christ returning to earth and raising the dead, some to eternal life and some to judgment. Can you imagine going to heaven and then one day being plopped into a physical body while you find out whether you were supposed to have gone to heaven? Or what about the guy that has been suffering indescribably in hell and then finds out he was supposed to go to heaven all along? And, how is it that the reward of the saved (eternal life) is any different than the reward of the damned (eternal life, but in a different place)? And why would God think anything is accomplished by eternal punishing? No wonder many people are not inclined to give credence to Christian teaching.

So they throw out that Christian book, the Bible, not realizing that all that gobbledygook taught by pop Christians isn’t even in the Bible. One day, when you have time, put aside all preconceptions and read the Bible and let it say to you what it says.
